Hey! Hey LP Field, home of the Tennessee Titans! I know you busy being flooded and all...and IMA LET YOU FINISH...but for real...the Louisana Superdome had the best football arena flood of all time. OF ALL TIME!
Too soon?
WAKE UP THE MASSES!!! Welcome to Something Clever. Sorry for the delay, here's the good word:
IMHO: This is nothing a good ol' fashioned biblical stoning can't fix...
Let's get the serious stuff out of the way first. I don't like The View. I think it's a bunch of women pretending that they care about issues, and news and information; but really, they just love the sounds of their own voices (Whoopi Goldberg is probably the only exception). Every person that has a shred of real intelligence and common sense walks away from the show and starts doing REAL news. I don't hate on anyone who doesn't feel that way, that's just how I feel.
That being said, IMHO, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a talentless hypocrite. Seriously. She was on Survivor, married a NFL washout, and all of a sudden, she has the right to MATTER? Only in America.
Here's the story: Hasselbeck was on The View, berating Dancing With the Stars contestant Erin Andrews. Andrews is a sports analyst for ESPN, and was recently the victim of a perverted stalker that spied on her while she was nude in a hotel room, then posted the video on the internet. So Hasselbeck decides made numerous jokes about Andrews clothes on DWTS, even stating that the stalker, who is now in jail, could have avoided jail by just watching her on TV, because she was showing the TV audience the same thing he saw when spying on her hotel room.
That's sick.
A day later, Hasselbeck made a tearful apology that she said was motivated by a conversation with her 5 year old. Fine, whatever. Elisabeth, how many ways are you full of crap? Let me count the ways.
1. Do you think you were wrong, or were you reacting to the huge amount of people that think you were wrong? Because I didn't see a trace of remorse when you were getting all of those laughs at Erin's expense. You were eating it up then, so what changed?
Side note: The studio audience that was laughing at Hasselbecks jokes can kiss both sides of my behind. That's low, that's inexcusable.
2. I find it hard to believe that your apology had nothing to do with the fact that Andrews works for ESPN and you works for ABC. Daddy Disney don't play, and when he says apologize, dang it, that's what you do!
3. Throwing in the blatant references to your 5 year old was uncalled for. Don't bring her in for sympathy points. Either you're sorry because YOU know you're wrong, or you're not sorry.
Honestly, I would have had more respect for Hasselbeck if she'd stood by her comments. I wouldn't have liked it, but I would have to respect it. Instead, she backpeddled and made excuses. What she said was WRONG. No matter how she feels about it now, it's WRONG. And someone needs to serve her a nice big slice of SHUT YOUR HOLE!!!

Nerds Unite!!!
There is a HUGE influx of comics coming to the big screen, from the obscure indies to the major players. The newest one is X-Men: First Class. This is a prequel/reboot, and it's going to follow Charles Xavier and Erik Lencher (Professor X and Magneto) as young men learning how to use their mutant gifts. The story sounds good, but it's going to come to casting. There have been some really GREAT superheroes that have been ruined by bad casting Ben Affleck as Daredevel! . Whatever they decide to do has to happen really quick; this movie has a 2011 release date.
Hugo Weaving has been cast to play Red Skull in the Captain America movie coming in 2011. Weaving is a great actor, as he's proven in The Matrix, V for Vendetta and as the voice of Megatron in the Transformers series. Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, will have to step it up to play across from him. However, I'm confident he can pull it off.
Word is Ryan Reynolds is going to play both Green Lantern AND Deadpool in 2011 and 2012. I really was hoping they were going to make Green Lantern black, but have no fear! The script for Black Panther is currently being written, and production will begin before the end of the year! For those who don't know, Black Panther is the first African-American superhero to have his own comic. Getting this movie started is a big step.
Marvel producers like Chiwetel Ejiofor (Serenity, Ameircan Gangster), and he says he is interested in the role. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (G.I. JOE) and Michael Jai White (Spawn, Why Did I Get Married?) are said to be auditioning for the role soon. The fan favorite is Djimon Hounsou (Never Back Down, Blood Diamond), since he already does the voice for the Black Panther: The Animated Series. But since Black Panther is supposed to be in The Avengers movie, that leads me to believe that the producers are closer to a decision than their letting on.
The major movies are going to make money, but it's these indie and one-shot comics that are really bothering me. Kick-A** had a weak script, was gratuitously violent, and had little or nothing to do with the comic, yet it's getting a sequel. The Losers was a great movie with great acting that stayed as true to the comic as possible, yet it's failing at the box office. These studios need to get behind the right movies.
it's not like you had a DATE tonight, or something...
Let's keep the nerd theme going. Take a look at this video. This guy is so excited about Iron Man 2, he decided to build a full Iron Man suit. Not the nerdiest thing I've ever heard. Then he started building several DIFFERENT Iron man suits, a War Machine suit, arc reactors and gatling guns! Even the mask is automated! Wow, dude! There are no words! You just gotta watch this thing!
